Clear your calendar - It's going down! The Emancipation Day festivities will take place on Saturday, April 13 and the parade will start at 2:00 PM at 10th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW. The concert kicks off at 3:00 PM and will feature an all-star lineup of some of the best artists in the game! The concert at Freedom Plaza will also feature many of DC's own homegrown talent. The DC Office of Cable Television, Film, Music and Entertainment launched the DC Creative Affairs Office (CAO) in 2019 and has stood by Mayor Muriel Bowser's commitment to improve diversity, equity, and access for all within the creative community. The CAO team works on policy legislative awareness and regulation to support the work of creative businesses. CAO is establishing infrastructure partnerships to support the mental health of our creative community and programs to improve the economic mobility of the District’s creative entrepreneurs.
CAO has launched its official website which will house initiatives and information that will continue to aide in bringing the Creative community of DC together via policy, community partnerships, and initiatives that help to build economic stability in the District. The #EntertainDC Office would like to send a huge shoutout to DC-based storyteller Robert Young on the launch of Unmask Fear at Union Market. Young describes the exhibition as providing "hope in a time of pandemic and inequality" and inspiring the community to vote. The Care for Creatives program is available to help all creatives, artists and entrepreneurs! This partnership between the DC Creative Affairs Office and the George Washington University, Community Counseling Services Center (CCSC) provides pay-what-you-can mental health services to area creatives.
To receive care, email CCSCFoggyBottom@gwu.edu and the Care for Creatives team will follow up with more information. You will be asked a couple of questions and then paired with a clinician for support.

Capital Fringe is offering four paid artists’ residencies under the theme Down to Earth to provide an outlet for DC, Maryland, and Virginia artists and creatives. The experience will provide an opportunity to create artwork or experiences that examine our ability and fortitude as human beings to tackle the climate emergency and systemic racism. Projects developed through the residency will engage the landscape and wildlife of the Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens, utilizing them for inspiration or as a metaphorical or literal canvas.
